For customers interested in purchasing or leasing our hardware encoders, Field59 offers a variety of video capture, editing, and live streaming configuration options. This flexibility allows you to mix-and-match services and hardware to give you the optimal setup for your needs.
Here are the different ways you can use our hardware with our services:
Encoder + Blackbird
Field59 can provide customers a video capture server that supports an HD-SDI (or SD-SDI) video signal and sends video to the Blackbird cloud-based editor. Blackbird allows for video editing and closed caption publishing in real time, so within seconds of broadcast, your video is available for editing. Blackbird software allows a temporary local archive of the source video to be recorded and stored locally on hard drives in the box. This means that if there’s a network issue at the customer’s location, or between the customer and the Blackbird cloud that prevents video from getting to the Blackbird cloud, the box will continue to record, and source video will be accessible in Blackbird when the network issue is resolved.
All online video clips created in Blackbird can be stored in the cloud permanently if desired.
Encoder + Live Streaming
Field59 can provide customers a live stream server that supports an HD-SDI (or SD-SDI) video signal (and embedded captions, if included) that sends video to our cloud-based live stream platform, which allows for video and closed caption live streaming. The live stream encoders do not contain local storage, so there is no video recorded to the box. However, Field59 can record your live streams in our cloud for either temporary or permanent storage.
Encoder + Live Streaming + Blackbird
Field59 can provide customers a combination of the above two services. Blackbirdnow has the ability to ingest a Field59 live stream, which means we can provide both live streaming and Blackbird video and closed caption capture, editing and publishing services, using a single hardware encoder. This provides significant cost savings in terms of internal bandwidth needed as well as investment in hardware. However, in this scenario, please note that if there’s a network issue that prevents the Blackbird cloud from ingesting video, there is no local storage recording that allows the box to continue to send captured video to the online editor during such a network event.
Encoder + Live Streaming + Trim Video Tool
If customers desire simple video editing functionality but do not need the real-time, frame-accurate Forscene solution, Field59 offers an alternative service, a Trim Video tool, that can be used in conjunction with our live stream encoder. Field59 can record your live streams in our cloud for either temporary or permanent storage, and then you can use the Trim Video tool to edit the recordings. (The Trim Video tool can also be used on any video asset, not just live stream recordings).
